This Tuesday, during the keynote presentation of its new smartphones, Apple took the opportunity to make another announcement: the power adapter will no longer be provided in the iPhone box.

Indeed, the Cupertino company has decided to offer only a simple charging cable, report our colleagues from

.

Apple claims to have taken this decision with the aim of reducing the size of smartphone boxes and thus reducing its ecological footprint.

This policy will therefore apply to the new iPhone 12 models presented this Tuesday by the Apple brand, but also to old models such as the iPhone XR, the iPhone 11 or even the iPhone SE.

Apple is removing the charger and headphones from the iPhone 12 box, to cut down on its carbon footprint.

The price of the AC adapter is falling

“As part of our efforts to achieve our environmental goals, the iPhone 11 now ships without an AC adapter.

Please use the Apple AC adapter already in your possession or purchase one separately, ”Apple said on its website in the presentation of this model released last year.

In the box, buyers will therefore only find the smartphone, a USB-C to lightening charging cable and wired headphones, which is a legal obligation in France.

Finally, to support this change in policy, Apple has lowered the price of the power adapter, sold for 25 euros, against 35 so far.
