As the COVID-19 social distancing is eased to stage 1, the number of attendance at schools nationwide will be reduced to two-thirds from the 19th.

For non-metropolitan areas, it is possible to further reduce the density depending on the conditions of the region and school.

Even in the metropolitan area, it is expected that more schools will attend school every day due to the introduction of the morning/afternoon, morning/afternoon school system, while maintaining the density standards.

Large academies with more than 300 people in the metropolitan area, which had been suspended since mid-August, will also be reopened on the 12th.

Deputy Prime Minister Eun-hye Yoo and Minister of Education held a briefing at the Seoul Government Complex and announced plans for the operation of the school after the special quarantine period during the Chuseok holiday.

As the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters (middle script) lowered the distance to the first stage, the number of students attending school is currently one-third (two-thirds for high school) and kindergarten, elementary, middle, and high school. All relax to two-thirds.

However, the Ministry of Education has made it possible to adjust the density according to the regional and school conditions, considering the fact that there was a strong demand for expansion of school due to concerns about the educational gap.

It has been decided to strictly apply two-thirds of the number of attendance to only science colleges, overcrowded classes and schools in the metropolitan area.

Accordingly, it is expected that all students will be able to attend school on a daily basis, especially in the non-metropolitan area.

Schools in the metropolitan area are required to comply with the number of attendances, but school days may be expanded by introducing morning/afternoon classes, implementing the morning/afternoon school year, and differentiating school hours.

The Ministry of Education plans to continue the existing school attendance method from the 12th to the 18th, taking into account the preparation period of the schools, but to apply the adjusted attendance method in earnest from the 19th.
