PayPal will apply fees for inactive accounts -

PayPal recently updated its terms of service.

Beyond an adjustment of account opening procedures, the online payment system has mainly announced the introduction of inactivity fees.

From December 16, PayPal plans to grant itself the right to charge its users the sum of 12 euros in the event of inactivity for at least 12 consecutive months.

By inactivity, the service means that "you have not signed into your PayPal account or have not used your PayPal account to send, receive or transfer money".

Logging in at least once a year to your PayPal account should therefore logically allow users to avoid paying these inactivity fees.

PayPal gives users time to decide

While some users have already announced that they are going to shut down their accounts in protest, this should only affect a handful of users.

In fact, inactivity fees should only be applied for a small number of users.

PayPal also leaves several weeks for the latter for the information to circulate and for those who rarely use the platform to decide whether or not to close their account.

This new policy will come into effect on December 16, 2020. The online payment system specifies that users who do not accept changes to its rules are asked to close their account.

They may do so before the date of entry into force of the new regulation at no additional cost.
