The Nobel Prize in Physics is awarded this year to Briton Roger Penrose for having demonstrated that the formation of black holes prefigured the general theory of relativity, and for the other half to the American Andrea Ghez and the German Reinhard Genzel, for the discovery of a compact supermassive object at the center of our galaxy.

This is the second award of the week after the Nobel Prize for Medicine awarded yesterday Monday.

Roger Penrose wins the famous prize for having discovered "

”, explained the Nobel jury when announcing the prize in Stockholm on Tuesday 6 October.
