A decomposing body was discovered on the heights of the town of Centuri, in Haute-Corse.

"The state of the remains did not allow its identification, which will be established in the days to come by the scientific examinations which will be ordered", indicated in a press release Arnaud Viornery, the public prosecutor of Bastia. 

A decomposing body was discovered late Monday afternoon in the bush on the heights of the town of Centuri (Haute-Corse) giving rise to the opening of an investigation for "intentional homicide", announced Tuesday the Bastia floor.

"The state of the remains did not allow its identification, which will be established in the coming days by the scientific examinations which will be ordered", indicated in a press release Arnaud Viornery, the public prosecutor of Bastia, who went there on Monday evening.

"The circumstances of its discovery allow at this stage to privilege, subject to the conclusions of forensic experts, the criminal track", adds the prosecutor who specifies that an investigation for "intentional homicide" was opened and entrusted to the section of the gendarmerie.

The body, discovered by a hunter, was "in an advanced state of decomposition and buried under leaves," a source close to the matter told AFP.

33-year-old man missing on September 9

The gendarmerie's criminal identification technicians also went to the site.

Among the leads studied by the investigators is that of the disappearance of a 33-year-old man, night establishment manager, since September 9 in Tomino, a neighboring village of Centuri in Cap Corse.

On September 10, the young man's car was found by the side of the road in Meria, a small village a 15-minute drive from Tomino.

The ignition keys were still on the dashboard.

A judicial information in search of the causes of the disappearance had been opened in mid-September and entrusted to an examining magistrate, the Bastia prosecutor's office had then indicated.
