According to the sources, Volkswagen would already have asked bankers and investors whether there is enthusiasm for this.

In the event of an IPO, the German concern would, however, want to keep a majority stake.

Other plans discussed include closer technical collaboration with Audi, just like Lamborghini, part of the Volkswagen Group.

Earlier this week, Lamborghini CEO Stefano Domenicali left, who will become the new Formula 1 boss starting next season.

The future of Lamborghini, like that of Bugatti, will be further mapped out in November. Then the Volkswagen summit discusses its plans for the next five years. Earlier this year it was announced that Bugatti may be sold.
