A pregnant woman died on Sunday morning, after she had twice called the Samu in the night from Saturday to Sunday for nausea and pain.

An investigation is open.

An investigation into the causes of death was opened after the death on Sunday of a young woman of 24 years pregnant, after three calls to the Samu, announced the prosecutor of La Rochelle.

The young woman, who had learned a few days earlier of her state of pregnancy, was at the home of her companion's parents in Saint-Jean-de-Liversay (Charente-Maritime) when she was "seized with nausea and pain. "Saturday evening then discomfort during the night, indicates a statement.

His entourage made contact with Samu twice during the night.

"In view of the situation", the family decided to go to the emergency room in the early morning but "his transport proved to be incompatible with his state of health", according to the prosecution.

"Recontacted, the emergency services intervened but were unable to resuscitate her. Her death was declared at 10 am", he adds.

The prosecution does not specify the reaction of Samu to the first two calls but according to the newspaper Sud Ouest, he did not come "at first".

The companion filed a complaint

The management of the Littoral Atlantique hospital, which houses the emergency services, confirmed in a statement that a 24-year-old patient "suffering from vomiting and diarrhea" had contacted the center 15. "Following the various exchanges with the regulatory doctors, the Mobile Emergency and Resuscitation Service (SMUR) moved to the home of the young woman, who died shortly after her arrival ", adds the press release which does not give more details on the actions taken during the first two calls.

An internal investigation was initiated by the hospital which recalls "the difficulty of assessing the state of health of patients in regulation".

An autopsy must be performed soon and the companion has filed a complaint.

The investigation was entrusted to the gendarmes of the Marans Brigade and the La Rochelle Research Brigade, to determine the causes and circumstances of the death.
