On September 21 (8th according to the Julian calendar), 1380, the Battle of Kulikovo took place. The united regiments of the principalities of North-Eastern Russia met with the army of the Temnik of the Golden Horde Mamai on the Kulikovo field (nowadays - the territory of the Tula region). The number of the Russian army, according to various estimates, was 6-60 thousand, the Horde's - 10-100 thousand. The Russian troops under the command of the Grand Duke of Vladimir and Moscow Dmitry Ivanovich defeated the Horde. This victory contributed to the strengthening of the process of centralization of North-Eastern Russia and the growth of Moscow's influence.
