As drunk driving accidents such as the recent drunk driving accident in Eulwang-ri in Incheon followed, the police strengthened crackdowns and came up with strong measures including the application of the zero-tolerance principle to drivers caught.

The National Police Agency said, "According to the principle of zero tolerance, we will take strict response to spreading the perception that'drinking driving must be cracked down'."

The police decided to extend the period of intensive drunk driving crackdowns by two months until November 17th, and conduct crackdowns in vulnerable times at least twice a week at police stations across the country.

In addition to the Japanese crackdown, we plan to implement regular crackdowns regardless of the time zone, taking into account the characteristics of each region.

The driver of a drunk driving vehicle is actively punished for assistance or accomplice.

In addition, if a driver who has been punished for drunk driving causes the victim to die or seriously injure the victim by drinking and driving, the driver will be arrested and the vehicle will be confiscated.

We decided to apply the same criteria even when drivers with four or more drunk driving experiences are caught again.

From January to August this year, the number of traffic accidents while driving drunk increased by 15% compared to the same period last year, according to the National Police Agency.
