The city of Seoul has filed a lawsuit for 4 billion won by asking Sarangjeil Church in Seongbuk-gu and Pastor Jeon Kwang-hoon to be responsible for the spread of Corona 19



The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that it will file a complaint claiming damages of 4.62 billion won to the Seoul Central District Court at 4 pm on the 18th.



The Seoul Metropolitan Government said, "Corona 19 has re-proliferated nationwide, including the metropolitan area, due to violations of the Infectious Disease Prevention Act such as refusal of epidemiological investigation by Sarang Jeil Church and Pastor Kwang-Hoon Jeon, and submission of false data." He said, "We acknowledge the relationship and ask for liability for damages caused by illegal activities under civil law."



The city estimates that the total amount of damage incurred to Seoul Metropolitan Government, Seoul Transportation Corporation, autonomous districts, health insurance corporations, and the government due to Corona 19 from Sarangjeil Church amounted to 11.3 billion won based on confirmed cases in Seoul.



Among them, the amount of damage in Seoul was 4.62 billion won ▲ 641 confirmed patients (as of 0 o'clock on the 17th), 330 million won for treatment expenses ▲ 660 million won for self-isolated living support ▲ 1.3 billion won for living treatment center operation costs ▲ Loss of 2.25 billion won due to the decrease in the use of city buses and village buses ▲ Total investigation administration cost 17 million won.



In addition, the total amount of damages in Seoul is 9.24 billion won when the loss of the Seoul Transportation Corporation is 3.57 billion won and the autonomous district is 1.04 billion won.



This is based on confirmed cases of Sarangjeil Church that occurred in the city of Seoul, so it may increase further if calculated on a national scale.



The Seoul Metropolitan Government plans to request and support the Seoul Transportation Corporation and each autonomous district to claim damages.



The government and the Health Insurance Corporation decided to share data to prove the amount of loss by requesting the formation of a consultative body.



Prior to the civil lawsuit, the Seoul Metropolitan Government accused the former pastor of violating the Infectious Disease Prevention Act on the 16th of last month, and a police investigation is underway.



"Sarang Cheil Church and Pastor Kwang-Hoon Jeon have caused irreparable damage by providing the cause of the massive spread of Corona 19, which is directly connected to the health and life of citizens," said Jo In-dong, head of Seoul's Planning and Coordination Office. "We will take all measures to prove the actual amount of damage." I said.
