The leaked database of the Chinese company Zhenhua contains more than seven hundred Dutch people, the

NOS

and

NRC report on

Tuesday evening.

These include (former) politicians and their families, write the broadcaster and the newspaper, who have seen the dataset.

The existence and some of the content of the list was leaked to international media on Monday.

It showed that there are a total of 2.4 million people in the database.

The information would have been collected from public sources, such as social media.

The

NOS

and

NRC

report that MPs Sjoerd Sjoerdsma (D66), Henk Nijboer (PvdA) and Henk Otten (Party-Otten), among others, are on the list.

Prince Constantine is also mentioned by both media.

Children of minister Sigrid Kaag (D66) and former minister Gerrit Zalm are also on the list, according to both media.

The

NOS also

mentions children of Member of Parliament Pieter Omtzigt (CDA), former ministers Jan Pronk and Melanie Schultz and TV presenter Harry Mens.

NRC

mentions children of former minister Ed Nijpels and former SP leader Emile Roemer.

In addition, both media mention a sister of Lodewijk Asscher (PvdA), the wife and daughter of André Rouvoet (now chairman of the GGD umbrella organization GGD GHOR) and the brother of the Arnhem mayor Ahmed Marcouch.

Mayors Halsema and Aboutaleb also on list

The

NOS

writes that the list also contains "a wide range of (former) Dutch MEPs, deputies and mayors" and "several prominent religious persons and various top figures from the Dutch defense system".

NRC

makes it concrete by mentioning the names of, among others, mayor Femke Halsema of Amsterdam, mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb of Rotterdam and Willem Woelen, the deputy police chief of the National Unit.

It is unclear how Zhenhua selects exactly which people will be on the list.

Since Monday, rumors have been circulating that the database is of interest to Chinese intelligence services.
