In order to cope with Corona 19, the government has decided to first secure 30 million overseas vaccines that can be vaccinated by 60% of the people.

In addition, we plan to secure vaccines in stages with the aim of securing an additional amount in consideration of future supply and demand conditions and domestic vaccine development conditions.

The government's'Corona 19 Vaccine Introduction Plan' aims at securing overseas vaccines in stages, taking into account the speed of domestic vaccine development while reviewing the progress of overseas vaccine development at a state council meeting held today (15th) presided over by Prime Minister Jeong Sye-gyun. Discussed.

In the first phase, the government provided 10 million people (20 million doses, 1 dose for 1 dose) through COVAX Facility, a global vaccine supply system, and 20 million people (40 million doses) through negotiations with individual companies. It is a plan to secure each vaccine of dose).

First, in order to participate in the COVAX facility, you must pay a prepayment of $3.5 per dose (including $0.4 in risk guarantee) in advance, and this pre-purchase contract cost KRW 172.3 billion has already been secured for the KCDC to execute. .

Vaccine prices fluctuate depending on the type of vaccine provided in the future and go through a settlement procedure taking into account the advance payment.

The government previously submitted a confirmation of intent to join the World Vaccine and Immunity Alliance (GAVI), which is in charge of supplying vaccines for participation in the COVAX facility, and is expected to submit a legally binding letter by the 18th of this month.

The upfront payment is due by the 9th of the following month.

At the same time as participating in the COVAX facility, we are also procuring vaccines for 20 million people through negotiations with global companies.

The pre-purchased vaccine is planned to be decided after collecting expert opinions in consideration of ▲ safety and efficacy review results ▲ price ▲ platform ▲ supply timing.

After securing 30 million vaccines in this way, the second-stage vaccine purchase is also promoted in stages, taking into account future supply and demand trends and domestic vaccine development conditions.

The goal is to secure the amount of vaccine available to all citizens.

In addition to purchasing overseas vaccines, the government is also promoting measures to support vaccine development by domestic companies.

Last month, the government announced plans to support clinical trial costs for three domestic vaccine development companies, including SK Bioscience, and set out to establish a'National Infectious Disease Clinical Trial Support Center' to alleviate difficulties in the clinical process, such as recruiting clinical patients.
