A 32-year-old man killed another inhabitant of the village of Montricoux on Saturday before committing suicide.

"There was a dispute, it's obvious, but the reasons are not known," said the public prosecutor. 

The quiet village of Montricoux, in Tarn-et-Garonne, was in shock on Sunday: after a marriage, a 32-year-old man killed another inhabitant of the village before committing suicide, according to the first elements of the investigation.

"There was a dispute, it's obvious, but the reasons are not known. It would seem that it was a murder followed by a suicide. These are two people who have known each other for a long time," he said. 'AFP Laurent Czernik, public prosecutor in Montauban.


The two men were found lying there at dawn, by the mother of one of the dead who alerted the firefighters.

Early testimonies indicate that a drunk man returning from a wedding walked home, grabbed a shotgun and headed for the home of his victim, a 25-year-old man who was found dead at the entrance of his house.

The gendarmes of the Montauban and Nègrepelisse Research Brigade proceeded Sunday to hearings of the relatives of two men and of possible witnesses.
