Voice phishing crimes have been mostly tricked into people over the phone and receiving money from their accounts.

Now, however, it is changing to a method where members of the organization meet the victims and intercept money.

Mr. A, a man in his thirties who pretended to be an employee of a financial company, tricked him into accepting a loan repayment and intercepted him in order to allow him to switch to a cheaper interest rate.



In this way, Mr. A was arrested and arrested on charges of intercepting 530 million won from 23 people and handing it to a voice phishing organization.



It is a voice phishing crime in which money is intercepted by meeting victims in person instead of being lured over the phone to receive remittance.The number of crimes in this manner has tripled compared to 2018.



This seems to be a result of increased awareness of voice phishing crimes and reinforced preventive measures such as delayed withdrawal.



There is a hole in the government response.

The phone number used for voice phishing may be forcibly suspended by the government to prevent further crimes, but this cannot be done for crimes where the victims are met and intercepted.



Because of the law that the phone number can only be stopped when a transfer or remittance is made, it is impossible to sanction a person who meets the victim and receives the money.



Amendments to the relevant laws will be proposed in the National Assembly.
