Pyeongchang, Gangwon-do, where typhoon Mysak struck, a resident who noticed a strange sensation just before the bridge of the river collapsed, blocked the traffic of the vehicle and prevented human damage.

Reporter Han So-hee on the report.

<Reporter> The

river overflows under Songjeong Bridge, Pyeongchang-gun, Gangwon-do.

The moment a vehicle is about to cross, a man in slippers jumps out and urges not to cross.

The vehicle that saw this man hurriedly reverses from the middle of the bridge with the emergency light on, but about 30 seconds later, the middle of the bridge breaks and falls into the river.

If the vehicle crosses the bridge as it is, it will likely lead to serious personal injury.

Park Gwang-jin, a resident of Songjeong 4-ri, Pyeongchang-gun, was the first to prevent human damage by discovering a crack in the bridge.

[Park Gwang-jin/Songjeong 4-ri residents: I saw that the legs were slightly lowered. I went down quickly (looked) and the car came over from that side. So I couldn't come by gestures.]

After receiving a call from Mr. Park, the head of the village reported the damage to the related agencies, and

[Jun-gyun Hong/Head of Song Jeong 4-ri: (Park) was already shouting a lot when I went. I have reported all of them to 112, 119, and Myeon offices, so I came right away.] After

hearing the news, local residents joined forces to control the bridge and take safety measures for Songjeong Bridge, which collapsed without human injury.

This typhoon caused a heavy rain of over 225 mm in Jinbu-myeon, resulting in the loss of Songjeong Bridge, built in 1989, and the fall of Dongsan Bridge, which was laid in 81.
