In June, a taxi driver, Choi Mo, stopped the operation after an accident with a private ambulance carrying a cancer patient in her 80s.

[Mr. Choi/Taxi driver: When (patient) dies, I am responsible.

I have to deal with the accident, uncle.] An

ambulance driver claimed to have violated the law and threatened to report it.

[Mr. Choi/Taxi driver: (In the ambulance) I asked if there was an emergency medical technician?

You know I've never tried a private ambulance?

I reported to the ward office that the siren went off...

.]

Eventually, the patient in the private ambulance was transferred to the 119 ambulance and arrived at the hospital, but died in five hours.

However, it was revealed that Choi deliberately crashed into another private ambulance three years ago and demanded money.

"Even though the emergency patient did not get on, he ran with a siren," he said and threatened to "if you don't give 500,000 won, I'll put a complaint into the Ministry of Health and Welfare."

In addition, it was investigated that Choi drove a charter bus, etc., and collected more than 20 million won in six times in the name of medical expenses or settlement money even for minor accidents.

The prosecution turned over Choi, who was arrested on charges of fraud, attempted blackmail, and special assault, to trial. Choi's side, who gave only a short stance of "sorry" immediately after the arrest examination, is said to have recently asked the bereaved family's intention to agree.

In response to a petition for punishment of taxi drivers, which more than 730,000 agreed to, police chief Kim Chang-ryong said he would raise the penalty significantly from the current 60,000 won when he violated the obligation to concession on emergency vehicles such as ambulances.
