Typhoon No. 9'Mysak' is expected to land between Geoje and Busan between 2 am and 3 am.

In the Gyeongnam region, the height of the tide overlaps the contrast phase with the highest tide, so tsunami damage is a concern in the lowlands and coastal areas.

First, let’s go to Jangseungpo Port in Geoje.

KNN reporter Hansol Choi, what is the current situation there?

<Reporter>

I am in Jangseungpo Port, Geoje.

As the typhoon'Maisak' approaches Geoje, seawater is coming into the harbor due to strong winds.

Our reporters also evacuated to a little distance, but the wind is still difficult to control.

Typhoon Mysak will land on the southern coast of Gyeongnam, including Geoje, around 2 a.m. after a while.

The biggest hurdle is from now to this morning.

With a strong wind radius of 370 km, it is expected that very strong winds at 45 m/sec.

It is dangerous to go out because the wind is enough to blow the rocks away as well as people.

Accordingly, over 14,000 ships in major ports or ports in the province have finished retreat.

Above all, the southern coast is the'control period', when the seawater is the highest until the weekend.

Due to typhoons, there is a high possibility of a storm surge on the coast.

As there is concern about damage from flooding or tsunami, lowlands and coastal areas need full preparation.

With a lot of rain pouring, the damage of precipitation is also a concern.

Due to the rain clouds driven by typhoon Mysak, a lot of rain of 100 to 300 mm is expected in the Gyeongnam region.

In particular, local governments in western Gyeongnam, such as Hapcheon, where the embankment collapsed due to the last water crisis, are on the verge of being alert.

As the typhoon hit the north, major bridges in the building, such as the Geoga Bridge connecting Busan and Geoje, were controlled at 7:30 in the evening.

In addition, about 3,200 residents have evacuated in 18 cities and counties in Gyeongnam Province.

In Gyeongnam Province, there is a high risk of safety accidents due to strong winds and heavy rain, so we advised not to go out.

This typhoon Mysak needs special attention not to let go of tension until the end as its strength and direction are similar to the'Maemi' that devastated Busan and Gyeongnam in 2003.
