This Friday, the Google doodle honors Alexandre Dumas, and especially his “Count of Monte-Cristo”. The first part of the novel was indeed originally published in the form of a literary serial in the Journal des debates , from August 28, 1884, indicates Le Point .

It took two years for the daily to publish the entire work. Six key moments in the plot of the Count of Monte Cristo are each the subject of a drawing in the doodle. In particular, we see the hero, Edmond Dantès, disembarking in Marseille, finding his fiancée, being arrested on denunciation and being taken to the Château d'If to be imprisoned.

International fame

Other illustrations show him learning of the existence of a treasure from the mouth of his cellmate, escaping, transporting the loot he collected and then, becoming rich, exercising his revenge on its whistleblowers. An additional visual appearing first and placed on the Google home page represents the author himself sitting at his desk.

Alexandre Dumas is surrounded by symbols representing his other famous works, including The Three Musketeers  and The Man in the Iron Mask . The novels of the famous writer who was born in 1802 and died at the age of 68 have been translated into more than a hundred different languages. His books have also been adapted more than 200 times for the cinema.
