Facebook integrates a new tab dedicated to shopping - Geeko

The coronavirus pandemic and the ensuing lockdown appear to have inspired Facebook. The American company has indeed integrated new features designed to facilitate online shopping in its various social networks. Last May, Facebook had already put in place tools to help traders sell from the platform. They could thus create a page on Facebook to promote their products and articles, making purchases easier. Last July, it was Instagram's turn to welcome a novelty dedicated to shopping, a Shop tab.

And this new tab seems to have convinced Facebook since it lands on the main social network of American society. For now, the Shop tab is only available in the United States, in testing, but it should be rolled out soon on other versions of Facebook.

Different from Marketplace

This new tab differs from Marketplace since it is not a question of connecting individuals, but of offering brands and stores to promote their products and sell them from Facebook.

At the same time, new personalization and layout tools are offered to companies using Shop, including the possibility of having a real-time overview of the collections. Retailers will also be able to respond to their customers via Messenger, WhatsApp or Instagram Direct.

Facebook is also testing a new way of shopping on Instagram via live product presentations. Users of the application can click on the products highlighted during Lives to purchase them.
