Apple Watch still dominates the smartwatch market - Geeko

Since the release of its first Apple Watch in 2014, the Cupertino company has occupied a prominent place in the connected watch market. It has also largely dominated it for several years. The Apple Watch has overtaken big names in connected watches such as Garmin or Samsung.

In 2020, Apple is doing better as Apple Watches accounted for over 50% of total smartwatch sales in the first half of the year, according to the Counterpoint Research report. Last year, for the same period, Apple Watch accounted for "only" 43.2% of sales.

Connected watches are popular

The sector is also expanding as global smartwatch shipments have increased by 20%. In the first half of the year, 42 million connected watches were shipped, despite the coronavirus pandemic. The Cupertino company shipped 22% more watches compared to last year.

The next generation of Apple Watch, the Series 6, is also expected to meet with significant success as the watch will introduce several new health-oriented features, including measuring the amount of oxygen in the blood. You will have to wait until the start of the school year to find out more, meet - normally - on September 10.
