Apple has decided to lower the price of its iPhones. But the integration of 5G in its future smartphones poses a problem because the technology is expensive. To keep its commitments, the firm at the apple would have decided to cut corners on ... the battery of phones.

In order to market its future iPhone 12 with 5G and at a lower price than the previous ones, Apple is said to have planned to reduce the size of the battery by grouping the cells together on a smaller surface, reports 01net. This would lower the price of the component by 40 to 50%, explains brand analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

Premature aging?

The analyst does not specify whether the batteries of the iPhone 12 will be smaller. The capacity is unlikely to be affected by this change, but the components could perform less well when it comes to charging and they could age faster.

The iPhone 12 should be released next October. By then, Apple may have found other ways to cut costs to make room for 5G and not inflate the price of its smartphones. We already know that there will be no headphones or charger in the box of future devices, enough to save a few dollars on the sale price.
