I am worried that the typhoon Barbie, who is heading north toward the west sea in Jeju's southwest sea, is getting bigger and stronger. Jeju Island will be affected by typhoons from today (25th) night, and tomorrow and the day after tomorrow.

Reporter Seo Dong-gyun reports.

Typhoon Barbie is currently heading north at 3 km/h from the sea around 500 km south of Seogwipo.

The force expanded overnight and the radius increased to 330 km, and winds of more than 130 km per hour are blowing in the center.

In the future, we will continue to receive warm sea water vapor and develop into a very strong typhoon with a radius of over 400 km and a central wind speed of over 160 km per hour by dawn tomorrow.

From tonight, Jeju Island will enter the area affected by typhoons, and strong rain will fall along with winds of 35 to 70 km/h.

Barbie is expected to pass the west coast of Jeju Island at around 3 pm tomorrow, and close to the metropolitan area around 7 am the day after tomorrow.

Due to the slow travel time, it can cause long-term damage from Jeju to the metropolitan area for 16 hours.

I am worried that it will develop into a very strong typhoon of over 160 km/h when passing through Jeju Island tomorrow afternoon.

A very strong wind of over 200 km/h will blow instantaneously around Jeju Island and Jeolla Coast.

If the wind speed exceeds 100 km/h, it is difficult for people to stand and walk, and if it exceeds 140 km/h, trees may be picked up.

Due to the influence of typhoons, rain is expected to be up to 500mm or more in the mountains of Jeju Island until the day after tomorrow, 100-300mm in the vicinity of Honam and Jeju-do, and Mt.

The south and west coasts, where typhoons can cause storm and tsunami damage, require more thorough preparation during high tide.
