The iPhone 12 Pro may not get a screen with a refresh rate of 120 frames per second. Apple would be missing an important part, Ross Young of analyst firm DSCC reports Monday.

Apple will reportedly release four new iPhones in the fall. The highest-quality models would get a 120Hz screen, the usually well-informed Max Weinbach reported earlier. This refreshes the image faster than with current iPhones, which have a 60Hz display.

Such a higher refresh rate is especially useful when playing games and looks smoother when scrolling through texts. Competitors such as Samsung and OnePlus already offer phones with a faster refresh rate.

But according to Ross, who analyzes the smartphone screen market, the iPhone manufacturer is missing a part required for the hardware of a 120Hz display. According to Young, Apple must postpone the sale of the iPhone 12 Pro or release the device with a refresh rate of 60 frames per second. According to insiders, the company has opted for the latter option.
