Android: a flaw exposes users' bank data and passwords - Geeko

It seems that the security measures of the Play Store have once again failed in their task. The Google application store has indeed housed nearly 30 malicious apps. A discovery that we owe to the White Ops Satori Threat Intelligence and Research team made up of IT security experts.

Specialists have identified no less than 29 applications on the Play Store. The latter passed themselves off as photo filter apps or mobile games, very popular concepts on the Google store. In reality, they were hiding adware-type software that displayed a significant number of advertisements when installed on the phone.

Smartphones rendered unusable

Apps were able to prevent their victims from shutting them down, rendering smartphones unusable. In addition, they could remove their smartphone icon in order to go unnoticed and be forgotten by their victims. They could thus work in complete discretion.

The researchers indicate that the only solution to get rid of it is to go to your phone's settings, applications option and check that no strange app is there. At the same time, the experts shared the list of malicious apps that you can find here.

As usual, it's important to only download apps from the Play Store from known publishers and developers to avoid being inundated with ads or worse.
