The'Cambodian term wife car accident death case', which attracted the public's attention due to the amount of insurance money amounting to 9.5 billion won and acquittal of the murder of the defendant, has been judged by the Supreme Court again.

The Daejeon High Prosecutor's Office filed an appeal against the decision of the Daejeon High Court in the case of the remand and retrieval of Lee Mo's murder and fraud charges.

Earlier on the 10th, the 6th Criminal Division of the Daejeon High Court (Director Judge Yong-seok Huh) judged innocent on two charges, and sentenced Lee to two years of imprisonment by applying only a lethal crime under the Special Act on Traffic Accident Handling.

It is reported that the Daejeon High Prosecutors' Office appealed to this with the intent of ‘admitted guilty by delaying it due to indirect evidence such as the motive of the crime and the attitude of the defendant before and after the crime.’

On August 23, 2014, Mr. Lee was charged with driving his van on the Gyeongbu Expressway at around 3:40 a.m., hitting a truck parked on the shoulder near the Cheonan Interchange and killing his pregnant wife.

In the future, Lee's wife had a contract to pay 9.5 billion won worth of insurance payments.

Court judgments were greatly mixed.

The first trial was acquitted, saying, "You cannot prove the crime only with indirect evidence that is unfavorable to the defendant," and the second trial said, "If you look at the fact that you purchased an additional 3 billion won in insurance two months before the accident, the prosecution is acknowledged." Sentenced.

In response, in May 2017, the Supreme Court returned the case to the Daejeon High Court, saying, "The motive for the crime should be revealed more clearly, but it is not."

The Destruction Recall Tribunal concluded that the defendant did not deliberately incur an accident to murder his wife, but that he was driving asleep.

The court said, "Of the victim's death insurance benefits, 5.4 billion won is not released at once, but is shared with other legal heirs." It's hard to say that it was purposely fed to kill a victim.”
