Following the areas of Chungbuk and Chungnam that were designated as the 1st special disaster zone, 11 southern regions, including Namwon-si in Jeonbuk and Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do, were added as the 2nd special disaster zone. Among them, the damage to livestock farms is serious as the bank of the Seomjin River collapses in Namwon City, Jeollabuk-do. Residents are protesting that it was because the water was forced out of the Seomjin River Dam.

This is JTV reporter Jung Won-ik.

It was around 12:50 pm on the 8th when the 100m of the bank of the Seomjin River in Ban-myeon, Namwon-si collapsed.

The enormous soil that flowed from the collapsed bank turned the surrounding villages, such as Gwiseok Village and Hado Village, into a field.

Around 1:50 pm, an hour later, Dongyang and Jungsang villages in Sejeon-ri, Songdong-myeon, were also submerged.

This is because an additional 40m embankment broke out at the point where the Seomjin River and the surrounding streams met.

The two villages in Songdong-myeon, where the dam was further destroyed, are densely populated with large-scale livestock farms.

Mostly, Korean cattle are raised, but it is counted that 330 cows have died or floated in the water so far.

[Kim Jong-hwa/Jungsang Village, Songdong-myeon, Namwon-si: There is a disease relationship, there are injured cows, and the condition is in very bad condition now.] It

is estimated that the damage to Songdong-myeon, as well as the houses, as well as the vast farmland and green house, is submerged in water, and the damage to Songdong-myeon is as good as prohibited.

Residents complain that a lot of water was discharged from the Seomjin River Dam at the same time, and the dam broke at the point where the Seomjin River and the two streams met.

[Kim Yong-gil/ Dongyang Village, Songdong-myeon, Namwon-si, Jeollabuk-do: The main reason is that discharge is the first priority, and there is too much water coming down from the top, so if there is no place to go, the water is pushed to the shallow side, so it bursts.]

Seomjin River Dam is 1,000 per second . After discharging 800 tons of water at once, two levees collapsed in Namwon alone, and voices are growing that we must consider who is responsible for this incident.
