survey result showed that economic damage of nearly 1 trillion won is expected due to the longest rainy season this summer. Another urgent thing to do with damage recovery is to get rid of the trash that has been pushed down. In particular, in the southern regions where it rained a lot last weekend, flood waste is increasing rapidly. There are many places where even garbage disposal sites are submerged.

This is KBC reporter Choi Choi.

Large-sized wastes are piled up like a pile of waste and equipment for picking up recyclables has stopped.

The machine could not be used because the recycling yard in Seo-gu, Gwangju was submerged in a heavy rain last weekend.

As it will take about 10 days to operate normally, the work of nearby sorting stations is increasing.

Likewise, the situation is similar for the recycling station in Buk-gu, Gwangju, which was damaged by flooding.

After recovering, I started working, but I am struggling to dispose of the waste that has accumulated for days.

[Gwangju Buk-gu recycling field official: (machine) can't do it because of water, it's all rotted. After a day, it smells and rots.] As

flood wastes discharged from various parts of the city increased rapidly, wide-area sanitary landfills such as Gwangju and Naju began operation.

Combustible waste must be disposed of incineration, but it was decided to be landfilled for a limited time in consideration of hygiene issues, such as a large amount and odor caused by corruption.

As the amount of waste generated in Gwangju and Jeonnam reached 10,000 tons due to this flood, inconvenience is expected to continue for the time being.
