Former Army sergeant Byun Hee- soo, who became a civilian after compulsory military service in January for a sex change operation.

Unlike the press conference that showed tears in military uniforms, today (11th) calmly expressed his feelings regarding the suit.

[Byeon Hee-su/Former Army Sergeant: In a world where people come first," I have a very chimney to ask if LGBT people like us are included in that person. I look forward to the Republic of Korea that can overcome the righteous judgment and hatred of the judiciary.]

Sergeant Byun said at a press conference, "Active gender-transferred soldiers will serve in the military while filing an administrative lawsuit in the Daejeon District Law asking for the cancellation of the military's forced military disposition." "There is no basis for stopping the current law."

[Joint Countermeasure Committee for Reinstatement of Byeon Hee-soo: Because there is no valid basis, the Army headquarters enforced a forced

war on the absurd reason that Sergeant Byeon, who had confirmed the last name as a woman, had a disability that lost a man's penis.] After the operation, the sergeant judged that he had become a'psychiatric disability 3rd class', that is, disabled, and in January, he was forced to re-transfer.

Sergeant Byeon previously requested the Army headquarters to cancel the forced military service, but the military dismissed it earlier last month, saying it was a legal disposition under the Military Personnel Act.

Sergeant Byun's decision to reinstate has now passed to the court, but in the lawsuit, it seems likely that the military's judgment, which regarded a transgender as a disabled person, was appropriate.
