Typhoon Rose No. 5, which is rapidly traveling north at this time, is expected to land near Tongyeong, Gyeongsangnam-do in the afternoon after passing through the southeast sea in the morning. Let’s go first to Jeju where the typhoon warning was issued.

Reporter Kim Yeon-seon, JIBS, how is the situation right now?

I am in Beophwanpo-gu, Seogwipo City.

Jeju is currently in the area of influence of Typhoon Rose, but it is not raining or blowing strong winds yet.

However, it is expected that a heavy rain and wind will blow as it approaches Jeju in the future.

Typhoon Rose No. 5 is currently heading north toward Jeju at 45 km/h from the sea about 350 km south of Seogwipo.

Currently, according to the Meteorological Administration's route, the typhoon is expected to be closest to Jeju around 9 am.

Typhoon Rose is a small type of typhoon with a central pressure of 998 hectares, but it is feared that the damage caused by rain is particularly great as it drives a strong rain cloud.

Currently, heavy rain warnings are issued in mountainous areas, and today (10) day, 50 to 150 millimeters of rain will fall all over Jeju.

It is also expected that up to 250 millimeters will fall more than this in mountainous areas.

I am also concerned about the damage caused by the wind, and a strong wind with an instantaneous wind speed of 20 to 30 kilometers per second will blow.

Currently, a special warning for Wind shear is in effect at Jeju International Airport, but aircraft are still operating normally without delays and cancellations, and passenger ship operations to and from Jeju have been completely controlled.

As the typhoon warning went into effect last night on Jeju Island, more than 2,000 ships are in refuge at each port pier.

The Jeju Self-Governing Province's Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters has entered emergency work and has called for special attention to prevent typhoon damage.
