Physical pain is difficult for victims of sports violence incidents, but most of all, the chronic practice of trying to cover the incident is more difficult to bear. The late Sook-Hyun Choi also filed complaints and complaints several times during his lifetime, but it was confirmed that Gyeongju City Hall responded with false reports.

This is reporter Jung Myung-won.

This is the report on the results of a civil complaint investigation prepared by the Gyeongju City Hall in March after the late Sook-Hyun Choi filed his first petition.

As a result of talking with Choi and 5 other players who had passed through the Gyeongju City Hall, it was said that'there was no violence, only bullying.'

[Gyeongju City Hall official (report writing): I have now written the content of the statement I made over the phone, summarized it, and wrote it there.]

This report is not only for Gyeongju City, but also for the triathlon association and the Korea Sports Association. It also served as a basis for making judgments.

However, in the report, it is recorded that two players who have consistently testified of the damages of the player Choi said that there was no violent or assault by the manager, and that the captain assault was only three times a year.

However, the two players said they had never made such a statement and that they had never spoken to the Gyeongju City Hall at the time.

[Former Gyeongju City Hall team player Mr. A: I don't think I have ever said that.]

[Former Gyeongju City Hall Team Player B: I don’t remember talking to Gyeongju City Hall. (Is this right? 3 times a year?) Not 3 times a day? I hit my chest, hit my head, just hit me as an excuse to exercise when I wasn't feeling well, or I always lived that way. (You mean you never spoke this way at this time, right?) Yes. (Isn't the content right?) Yes.]

Even after Choi's death, the Gyeongju City Hall and the association tried to reduce the case.

This is the minutes of the Gyeongju City Hall Operation Committee meeting held on the 2nd of last month.

When the perpetrators are called, they do not ask about the fact of the assault, but question Choi's psychological state.

Even the Gyeongju Sports Complex decided that Choi usually had a mental problem and seemed to have lied habitually.

[Kang Hee-chang/Former triathlon player: There are all interests between the federation officials and the managers now. I feel uncomfortable, I seem to turn away more, and I think I want to cover up more.]

After the incident of sexual assault by coach Jae-bum Cho in January of last year, a joint public-private sports innovation committee was formed under the direction of the president.

In the event of a violent incident, the Innovation Committee recommended that the investigating agency be given exclusive right to investigate and discipline to exclude related sports organizations, such as the United States.

It was a mandate to break the long-standing practice of the silent cartel in the sports world, but this recommendation was ignored.

[Moon Gyeong-ran/Former Chairman of Sports Innovation Committee: I cannot find out the truth without breaking the cartel chain, and I cannot prevent any second or third incidents in the future.]

He said that the root cause of violence is the elite sports-oriented nurturing method. It has been a year and a half since government-wide measures were taken.

However, since then, nothing has changed due to the backlash in the athletic world, and the athletes are still forced to remain silent due to the violence of the leader who has absolute power in their career path.

[Jung Yong-cheol/Professor of Sogang University's Graduate School of Education: If you still cut off the tail and end up just losing some seats, the message to the players is very clear. You can't (report), and I won't do this in the future. That's even more scary.]
