A water bomb of several tens of millimeters per hour caused sediment to flow into the railroad tracks and the train was stopped.


According to the Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) on the 7th, a large amount of soil flowed from Hwasun to Nampyeong on the Gyeongjeon Line this afternoon.

KORAIL has stopped operating the Gwangju Songjeong-Suncheon trains that include the section.

KORAIL plans to resume train operation as soon as the restoration work is completed.

Heavy rain has been falling in Gwangju and Jeonnam, including Naju and Hwasun, from this morning.

From 0 a.m. to 2 p.m. on this day, the amount of rainfall was 132 mm in Naju, 126.5 mm in North Hwasun, 113 mm in Nam-gu, Gwangju, 88.5 mm in Gokseong Okwa, 82.5 mm in Gurye Seongsamjae, and 78.5 mm in Muan.

The maximum precipitation per hour was 65 mm in Naju at 1:54 pm and 56 mm in Hwasun at 12:38 pm.
