The educator who accompanied the missing child at the end of July in a lake in Indre-et-Loire was indicted for "manslaughter with deliberate violation of an obligation of prudence or security imposed by law or regulation" , announced Thursday the public prosecutor of Tours Grégoire Dulin. The educator was placed under judicial supervision with a ban on exercising his profession, according to the prosecution. He was presented to an investigating judge on Tuesday at the end of his custody.

Access to the water was prohibited

The child, who was placed in a child welfare home of the departmental council of Indre-et-Loire, escaped the supervision of the educator during an outing to the Val Joyeux lake, Monday July 27. His body was found by divers the next day. Three days before the drowning, the town hall of Château-la-Vallière had issued an order prohibiting access to the water, for lack of a lifeguard to supervise the swimming that day.

The educator "was not authorized to accompany the children"

The educator "was not authorized to accompany the children" as part of a swim, said the prosecutor. "He did not have the necessary diplomas. He should have been accompanied by a person with the diplomas to supervise the swimming," said Grégoire Dulin.
