Yes, the Soyang River Dam also opened a floodgate.

You can see a huge column of water behind me, because the dam is so large that the drop is 90m.

Discharge began about two hours ago, and now all five gates are opened, pouring 1,000 tons of water per second.

Soyang River Dam water discharge is only three years after 2017 and only 15 times until 47 years after the dam was completed in 1973.

From yesterday (4th), the influx of water increased rapidly, and today it exceeded the flood limit limit of 190.3m at around 8:30 am, and by 3 pm, the influx of water surged to 5,500 tons.

The Korea Water Resources Corporation plans to open the flood gates at the Soyang River Dam by midnight on the 15th of next week and adjust the water level.

It is known that it takes about 16 hours for the water discharged from Soyang River Dam to reach the Han River Bridge in the situation that the dams of the Han River, such as Hwacheon Dam and Chuncheon Dam, open the sluice at the same time and flow water downstream.

In Gangwon-do, a strong rain of 50mm per hour is still continuing in the northern part of Yeongseo, such as Cheorwon and Hwacheon, where about 90 people were displaced.

If you look at the cumulative precipitation from last Friday to just before 4pm, Jangheung, Cheorwon has the most with 676mm, Chuncheon Sinbuk 489.1mm, Hwacheon Sangseo 472mm, etc.

Today, heavy rain warnings are still maintained in most areas of Gangwon-do, and it is forecasted that more rain will reach up to 400mm.

Especially, starting from tonight, strong wind forecasts are also forecast throughout Gangwon-do.

Gangwon-do is strengthening field forecasts as there is concern about additional damage such as landslides and collapses if heavy rains and strong winds overlap.
