<Anchor> As the

rain falls in the central region for five days in a row until today (5th), the level of dams that prevent flooding and control the amount of water is increasing. As dams on the Bukhan River flowing into the Han River opened the gates, Soyang River Dam, the most upstream, began to drain water from this afternoon. It has been three years since the Soyang River Dam water gate has been opened, but the water level in the Han River is expected to increase. Let's connect on site.

Reporter Han So-hee, are the floodgates of the Soyang River Dam open now?

<Reporter>

Yes, 3,000 tons of water is pouring out of Soyang River Dam at the opening of five gates.

A huge splash of water was created by the rapid pouring of water.

The Soyang River Dam water level has exceeded the limit of 190.3m from 8:30 this morning.

The Water Resources Corporation opened the water gate from 3 pm and started to adjust the water level.

The Soyang River Dam upstream of the Bukhan River has a direct impact on the overall Han River water level.

The water discharged from here arrives at the Han River in about 17 hours. When the water reaches it, the water level of the Han River is expected to rise by 1 to 2 m. Soyang River Dam on the upstream side of

doesn't open well, so does this mean that it has been raining for a long time?

<Reporter>

Yes, the opening of the Soyang River Dam water gate is only three years since the heavy rain in August 2017.

The Soyang River Dam is located at the top of the Bukhan River, and the dam slope is only 123m high and the water storage amount is 2.9 billion tons, so it will not open the gates in heavy rain.

So, opening the Soyang River Dam, the last bastion of flood control in the Han River, means that this heavy rain is serious.

The number of deaths reported by the Central Emergency Management Agency maintains 15 deaths and 11 missing as in yesterday, but the number of deaths could increase further as a car driver caught in the rapids in Hongcheon, Gangwon, was found dead today.
