A 57-year-old man was killed by a fleeing driver in the night from Monday to Tuesday near Lens, in front of his 18-year-old son. The two men were in pursuit of the author of damage to vehicles parked in a street in the town of Harnes. 

A 57-year-old father was killed by a fleeing driver last night near Lens. At around 4 am, the victim was awakened by the sound of a van hitting cars parked in a street in the town of Harnes, according to information collected by Europe 1. With his 18-year-old son, the man took the wheel to start looking for the van. A few streets further on, they found the author of the damage. The father got out of the car to talk to him and stop him, but the driver knocked him down, dragged him for several meters and fled. The victim succumbed to his injuries on the spot, in front of his son. A police investigation has been opened, the driver is actively sought.
