Hackers are currently trying to steal login credentials from Netflix users in order to subsequently steal their bank details, reports Tom's Guide . To do this, hackers employ a phishing method, as the American start-up specializing in cybersecurity Armorblox has spotted.

Their tactic is to send an email to users of the popular streaming platform pretending to be technical support. This message makes believe that their personal data could not be verified, causing billing problems. Then the hackers indicate that the user's account will be closed within 24 hours if the personal data is not updated.

The problem is, “when targets click on the link, they're taken to a full-fledged Netflix-like website,” says Armorblox co-founder Chetan Anand. Then, the page "asks to enter their Netflix login credentials, their billing address and their credit card details," he adds.

Once this information is entered, users are returned to the real home page of the streaming platform. In this way, hackers get all the information they want without arousing suspicion. It is therefore recommended to be extra vigilant towards this type of email and to always check the address with which they are sent.
