Facebook, Twitter and YouTube have removed a video with false information about Covid-19 and its treatment that went viral after being published by Breitbart News and shared by the President of the United States, Donald Trump .

The video featured a group of alleged doctors ( America's Frontline Doctors ) who made several inaccurate or false claims about the disease, such as that it is not necessary to wear masks to prevent infection. They also charged those who say that hydroxychloroquine is not effective in treating the coronavirus and branded it as "false science."

Trump, in whose profile there are currently several messages deleted for going against Twitter's disinformation policy, also retweeted several messages in favor of using the drug.

The video in question was also viral on Facebook, where it accumulated more than 14 million views before being deleted and appeared on YouTube, although it did not get as much traction on the Google platform (around 40,000 views, according to CNN). .

Facebook, Google (owner of YouTube) and Twitter are some of the technology companies that announced months ago a joint effort to combat disinformation regarding Covid-19.

All three have also had confrontations with Donald Trump after deleting messages from their platforms or urging the politician to comply with their rules of use. The US president was also temporarily kicked out of Twitch (owned by Amazon) for posting hate messages.
