Cowboy raises 23 million euros for its electric bikes - Geeko

A few weeks after unveiling the third generation of its electric bike and after announcing the establishment of its home repair and maintenance service, the Belgian start-up Cowboy announces a “series B” fundraising campaign. an amount of 23 million euros. A successful challenge that will allow it to continue its development in Europe.

“Cowboy encompasses both the design of designer electric bikes and the sale of these online or through our partners. With this new fundraising, we will be able to develop new ideas of conception, design, connectivity, while developing all the sales and after-sales part since we also personally take care of this aspect through our service. home repairs ”, explains Adrien Roose, co-founder and CEO of Cowboy. “The idea behind Mobile Service is to create a real relationship of trust with our customers,” he continues.

And to get there, the start-up plans to establish Cowboy stores. A project that the new fundraising will help to set up. “From the launch of the first version of the Cowboy bike, we had in mind to open stores. We also tested several pop-up stores in Belgium and the experience turned out to be quite good each time. Opening Cowboy stores is a real project. This will make it possible to have better interactions with customers, but also to make us known, ”explains the CEO of the Belgian company.

New bikes and development abroad

Over the next six months, the startup also wants to hire around thirty new employees to deploy its Mobile Services home repair and electric bike testing offer in around fifty new cities in the nine European countries in which Cowboy is located. present.

“Since the launch of Cowboy 1, we have never stopped trying to improve our product, whether in terms of hardware or software. We are currently working on other models that will respond to other types of users, but we cannot yet talk about it openly, ”admits Adrien Roose.

The Cowboy success story seems to continue. The amount of the new fundraising is proof of this. The start-up also assures that the demand for Cowboy bikes has not been impacted by the coronavirus crisis and continues to grow. This success can be explained by the design and conception of the product according to Adrien Roose; “Electric bikes have often been associated with the elderly. With their unattractive, heavily cluttered design and exorbitant price tag, they weren't particularly popular. With the change in behavior and the problem of mobility, we wanted to offer a trendy product with a modern design and efficient connectivity. We managed to seduce a larger and younger audience with Cowboy ”.
