The unemployment increase due to the impact of employment caused by the Corona 19 crisis also pushed the record for unemployment benefits last month.

According to the June Labor Market Trend announced by the Ministry of Employment and Labor today (13th), the job search benefit payment last month was KRW 1,103.3 billion, a surge of KRW 487.7 billion (62.9%) from last year.

This was the first time in May (1.16 trillion won), and it expanded after the first trillion won.

The job search benefit is an allowance paid by the government through the Employment Insurance Fund to support job search for unemployed people. It accounts for most of the unemployment benefit and is commonly called unemployment benefit.

The amount of job search benefits has been changing every month since February, when the spread of Corona 19 began to rise.

Last month, there were 106,000 new applicants for job search benefits, up 30,000 (39.5%) from the same month last year.

Last month, the number of job search recipients was 711,000, the largest ever.

In addition to the increase in unemployment, the increase in job search benefit payments also affected the increase in job search benefit payments and the expansion of payment periods that were implemented in October last year, the Ministry of Labor said.

Last month, there were 1,387,11,000 job insurance subscribers, an increase of 184,000 (1.3%) from last year.

In the second half of last year, employment insurance subscribers, which increased by 400,000 to 500,000 per month, rose sharply from March this year to 19, and the number increased by only 155,000 in May, but expanded in the past month.

The increase in the number of subscribers to employment insurance last month was influenced by the service industry.

The service industry employs 9494,000 people, an increase of 227,000 (2.5%) from last year.

Among the service industry, 50,000 people increased in public administration.

This is because the government job business, which had been suspended due to the Corona 19 incident, was resumed with a focus on non-face-to-face work.

The number of enrolled in employment insurance in the education service industry also increased by 18,000 due to partial school opening.

However, the number of subscribers to employment insurance in the lodging and food industry decreased by 2,000, and only 7,000 in the wholesale and retail business.

These are the industries that have been hit directly by the social distance.

In the manufacturing industry, the backbone of the domestic industry, the number of subscribers to employment insurance was 352,1,000 last month, down by 59,000 (1.6%).

The largest decline in monthly employment insurance for manufacturing industries is the largest since January 1998 (9,500) during the International Monetary Fund (IMF) crisis.

The decline in the number of subscribers in the manufacturing industry has been growing rapidly since March this year.

Among the manufacturing industry, the number of subscribers to other transportation equipment industries, including the shipbuilding industry, decreased by 1,400 last month and turned to decline.

The number of subscribers in the auto industry and electronics and telecommunications industries, which are the main industries, also decreased by 10,000 and 1,300 respectively.

Looking at the increase and decrease of employment insurance subscribers by age group last month, the number of employees under the age of 29 and those in their 30s decreased by 61,000 and 59,000 respectively.

This was in contrast to the increase in subscribers in the 40s and older.

The increase was the largest with the increase of 166,000 over the age of 60.

Corona 19 shows that the hiring of young people has been serious due to the delay and suspension of hiring.

However, last month, the number of new job openings through the job portal'Worknet' was 175,000, showing a sign of a recovery in demand by 4,000 people (2.5%) compared to the same month last year.

It is the first time since February this year that the number of new job openings has increased.

The number of new jobs was 368,000 last month, up 51,000 (16.3%) from last year.

The monthly labor market trend announced by the Ministry of Labor is targeted at employment insurance subscribers, excluding special employment workers, freelancers, and self-employed workers, such as teachers who are not enrolled in employment insurance.
