iOS 14: Apple Pay payments via QR code arrive - Geeko

The second beta of iOS 14 begins to reveal its secrets, as the developers study this new version of the OS. An investigation which allowed 9to5mac to discover that it would soon be possible to make an Apple Pay payment by scanning a QR code.

The new payment functionality will be offered within the Wallet application. Users will simply need to point their phone's camera at the code so that the device can read the code and make the payment via a bank card registered in Apple Pay. 9to5mac also indicates that it will be possible for the Wallet app to generate a QR code in order to receive a payment.

A device which should become generalized

There is a good chance that this means of payment is offered in various applications since the API is public. Developers should definitely make sure to integrate this functionality into their app.

During the presentation of iOS 14 during the launch conference of WWDC, Apple had not discussed this feature. So there are chances that it will not be available in the final version of iOS 14, but rather in a later version.
