Michael van Gerwen made an excellent start to the resumption of darts on Wednesday. The Brabant number one in the world immediately won the first of five Players Championships in Milton Keynes after an 8-7 victory in the spectacular final against Peter Wright.
Dartsbond PDC organizes a Players Championship every day until Sunday under the name Summer Series. The event is behind closed doors and players may only be in the play area in the MK Arena and the adjacent hotel.
All 128 participants were tested negative for COVID-19 on Tuesday. They do not have to wear a mask during the matches, but must, for example, adhere to walking routes and keep the scores themselves in case of defeat.
