Seoul National University College of Music'B Prof.' reported last month that it was undergoing a disciplinary committee procedure due to inappropriate conduct, such as visiting a graduate student assistant hotel room.

Today (2nd) at 4pm, the victim is present at the disciplinary committee and stating the damage.

In November of last year, about eight months have passed since the first report of the damages to the Seoul National University Human Rights Center, but the process is still under way.

In the meantime, the victim was twice in the Human Rights Center, another in the Human Rights Center Review Committee, and once in the police investigation. And today, the disciplinary committee only speaks in its own voice for the fifth time in official positions.

I was curious when I saw a fight that wasn't easy to see one step away.

Since then, students of the alphabet have reported the sexual violence of professors.

● Reproducing the situation from the false rumors… Victims who left Korea

Graduate student Kim Silvia, who accused the sexual violence of Professor A, Department of Western Literature, Seoul National University in 2018. Kim, who left because he thought he could no longer live in Korea, is pursuing a doctoral program in the United States. Mr. Kim says the second attack was the most difficult in the process of reporting the case to Professor A.

"The professors and instructors of the department tried to cover the fact of sexual harassment. He even said that it was a political fight, not a Me2u movement. I also lied to graduate students and they either stopped contacting me or silenced me." -Kim Silvia's

second persecution continued in the intramural process. There were even professors who asked to reenact the damage.

"Some professors were too hard to get a reenactment. The report to the Human Rights Center was summer of 2018, when the deliberation committee reopened in November 2018, and when the disciplinary action was held in the summer of 2019, we had no choice but to talk about sexual harassment again." -Mr. Silvia

Professor A, who was handed over to the court after that, said that there was no intention, and that the public viewed it as a sexual harassment or that he would be judged, and filed for a national participation trial, and the court is considering whether to accept Professor A's application.

Two years have passed, but the case of Professor A has only left the school and is currently in progress.

● The student is missing the disciplinary rule… Some students give up their complaints because they are exhausted from school, and the complaints

are'abandoning ' and the daily life is difficult to shake.

"I had to keep saying the same thing, and there were cases where statements were erased in the process, and there were cases where recording was not possible or records were not recorded. It was very psychologically difficult for a year and a half. The parties would have done more." -The OO University Student Council, who helped with sexual violence

, lost the power to fight the cadre , and the frustratingness of knowing how the outcome will end one day is also very important.

"We didn't know how to get the results, and we didn't know when the results finally came out, because we didn't have the obligation to notify the victims at school, so we saw it later on the homepage and we knew the results. ." -OO University Student Association, which helped accuse sexual violence,

National University and Private University have grounds for disciplining teachers, respectively, in the Education Disciplinary Procedures and Private School Law.

These provisions limit who can be appointed to the Faculty Disciplinary Committee to those who have been employed in the school for more than five years as teachers or directors, judges, or lawyers.

As a result,'students' are always missing from the teacher disciplinary committee.

The disciplinary committee is also obligated to notify the disciplinary results. Because of this, the disciplinary process that the victim takes over for my damage, as well as the consequences, may be unknown.

● Professor B's case… After that?

At the end of the interview with the messenger, Mr. Kim Silvia, who publicized the case of Professor A, said there was a story she wanted to tell and brought up the story of the school she is attending.

"I went through Seoul National University, and the procedure was not transparent, and after the end, I was busy with it. After the second offense, the professors repeatedly said that I could not help it.
I went to school in the United States and saw how to deal with sexual violence several times. We may notify you by email that this has happened, or provide psychological counseling or legal assistance to the complainant." -Mr. Silvia Kim It

was simple and natural for victims of sexual violence in the school to meet or talk about Professor B's case. We wanted the procedure to be transparent, and we wanted the school to consider how the victim would not suffer more.

Student societies are already adding strength to this natural desire. <Professional Committee for Responding to Professor B's case> was held after the Seoul National University College of Music's professor B was known.

Prior to the disciplinary committee to be held today,
<Special Committee for Responding to Professor B's Case> holds a press conference and submits a petition to the school to urge Professor B to be signed by a total of 1,049 870 students and 179 graduates.

The Seoul National University Students' Association and the Seoul National University's College of Student Affairs also took their positions and asked Professor B to be dismissed, to participate in the student disciplinary committee, and to ensure the victims' procedural rights. Like this, Professor B's case is still in progress.

After Professor B, how will the victim remember Professor B?
