It is true that using the same password for several accounts makes it easier to remember. Unfortunately, this increases the risk of hacking since a hacker or a malicious person can try to reuse the same identifiers to connect to different accounts of the same person. This is why Google wants its users to use different passwords, in order to limit the damage in the event of hacking.
Password check-up
A few years ago, in addition to allowing us to save our credentials to connect, Google proposed to generate complex passwords, in order to strengthen account security. The American company then set up the “Password Check-up” tool which allows us to know if one of our used passwords was not found on a list of hacked identifiers.
By going to their account, users can thus verify that their passwords have not been exposed at any given time on the web, from the "Google Security Check-up" tab. By clicking on Check-up Passwords, you can see the security of your passwords. Those that have been hacked, those that are reused a number of times, and those that are insecure.
At hand
The tool was first launched in February 2019 as a Chrome extension. The Mountain View company then integrated it into its Google accounts in October and into Chrome last December. If it has been in place for several months, many users are unaware of its existence, but Google wishes to give it more importance in the coming months, in order to help Internet users to realize the level of security or not. -security of their accounts.
