Who is Kathy Lueders, the first woman appointed to head NASA manned flights? - 20 Minutes

It is in part thanks to her that the Space X Crew Dragon was able to take off, on May 30, from Cape Canaveral (Florida) in the direction of the international space station. Kathy Lueders is now the first woman to occupy one of the most important positions in NASA: director of human spaceflight.

Joining NASA in 1992, she had directed the commercial human space flight program for six years and supervised the tedious test program for capsules developed by SpaceX and Boeing. His role ? Make sure their vessels are safe for its precious passengers.

Mission Moon 2024

"This Nasa-SpaceX team has always exceeded expectations, they have worked miracles for me," she said in yet another briefing on May 29.

With this new cap, a new mission just as exciting and full of challenges for the engineer is looming: successfully landing two astronauts, including a woman, on the Moon in 2024.
