The American company, Google, recently launched the beta version of the Android 11 operating system, and launched it for users and smart phone owners.

Despite this quiet launch, which took place without an official conference, the new version contained four features that restrict the movement of applications installed on the phone, and put them in a position closer to "house arrest", with the aim of achieving a higher level of privacy and protection for the user, as "permissions" On request, access to volumes is forbidden, and viewing what other applications do is prohibited, and an application that is not used for a long time automatically blocks all permissions.

The new approach to dealing with applications installed on the phone was one of the most prominent aspects carried by the new operating system «Android 11», if not the most prominent at all, according to the post published by the vice president of Android system engineering in the company «Google» , Dave Burke, as he introduces the new version for users, as a review of the blog found that "Google" chose to strictly deal with "mobile" applications, to protect the privacy of the user, and provided in this context four characteristics, namely:

"Permissions" on demand

According to the new changes in the system, any application on the phone can no longer obtain absolute and permanent permissions or powers, such as access to cameras and microphone, contacts and storage space, and access to site data, but rather it is done according to "permission on demand", during the operation of The program or does a job. Instead of the All or Nothing option in this regard, it became available to choose to allow the application to obtain permission that best suits the task it performs, and only when.

And Google made this decision, after it was found that two out of three users of the system complain that the applications enter their sites, even though they are in the background or are not in a running state.

According to the new amendments to the system, the rule has become that the user gives an application a limited one-time permission for one purpose, which means that he will be able to access this area for one session lost during its use, then this permission or authority is lost once the user moves to something else, or termination the mission.

Denial of forgotten applications

Google has found that out of every 75 applications installed on the phone, less than a quarter is used regularly, and the rest falls within the realm of forgetfulness or non-use. In previous versions, the forgotten applications were still having the powers and permissions that they obtained with the knowledge of the user, or with their knowledge directly, which is a weakness in privacy, but the new version will deprive the forgotten applications, or those that are not used for a long time, all the powers and permissions automatically, As these permissions will be canceled by the system, not the user, which means that even if you give an application permission to access your geographical location, camera or internal storage space of the phone, then you have not actively used the application for a while, then this permission will be canceled.

Find out what others are doing

Some applications that are installed on the "mobile" had the ability to know the activities of other applications installed on the phone, and the Twitter application is the most prominent example in this context, as Twitter often used this feature to enhance information and data that Collects them around users, to improve their profiles, and make them more rich, and in practice this matter constituted a breach of privacy, but the new version of «Android» prevents this matter completely, and makes each application completely isolated, and cut off the link with what any other application on the phone, He does not intrude on any of them, nor is he subjected to intrusion by any of them.

Storage space restrictions

Previous Android versions allowed applications installed on the phone to access the entire volume of the volume, if you obtained permission to do so, but the new version places restrictions on this permission, and limits the ways that applications interact with the volume on the phone, by giving each application a region Even if he / she has permission to access the volume, the application is only allowed to access the content outside this region, which means that other applications will not be able to interact with the information in the area specific to the application.

And in cases where joint tasks such as shared storage are required, any application will be able to add to these areas, but it will need user approval to access and modify files that it did not create.
