Twitter: memorial accounts for deceased users soon - Geeko

Twitter is working on a new way to interact on its platform. Researcher Jane Manchun Wong has indeed spotted in the code of the Twitter application a new reaction system based on emojis. A concept that has already been found for several years on Facebook and which made its debut on Twitter last January, in private messages.

Six reactions are planned. Network users will be able to express their opinion on a tweet by selecting the emoji corresponding to validation, disagreement, laughter, astonishment, thanks. As for the last one, the one representing a smiley, it could allow you to select an emoji from a larger selection or simply the one who smiles.

For new interactions

The timing is more interesting than in 2015, when Twitter was first interested in reactions via emojis. The social network is indeed deploying a system that allows its members to decide who can reply to their tweets.

The new interaction system via emojis would allow users to be able to react to a tweet, even if they are not authorized to reply with a written message. Internet users could thus show their agreement or disagreement. It will also qualify an interest in a message rather than displaying a simple heart.

The screenshot of Jane Manchun Wong also shows a reaction option called “Fleet”, namely a variant of the stories. Comments that automatically expire after 24 hours are therefore still valid.

It's difficult to know if and when this new reaction system could land on Twitter. The social network is used to testing many features, but few really see the light of day on the platform.
