Hong Jung-wook, daughter of former lawmaker Hong Jeong-woo who was sentenced to prosecution in jail for prosecuting and smuggling drugs from abroad, appealed to the preacher, saying, "I am deeply regretful."

Hong said in an appeal trial hearing held at the Seoul High Court Detective Division 8 hearing.

"I deeply regret what hurt my parents and my family because of my fault and carelessness," said Hong. "I used to lash myself out as a chance to reflect on the irony of trying to rely on drugs."

He continued, "I improved little by little by the love of my parents and the comfort of the surroundings, and I was rewarded with various activities such as volunteer work and part-time work and gained the strength to overcome depression."

He promised, "If you choose, you will live a meaningful life in return for your family's love and expectations around you."

Hong was accused of being smuggled by smuggling six liquid hemp cartridges and LSD (paper type drugs), a variant drug, during the immigration test at Incheon International Airport on September 27 last year.

From February 2018 to September of last year, he was also accused of buying drugs three times in the United States and administering or smoking nine times.

Hong was found to have been taking drugs by courier from a high school dormitory in the US he was attending.

The first sentence sentenced Hong to two years and six months in prison and three years to probation.

Both prosecutors and Hong appealed this and the first trial of the second trial was held today (10th).

However, as Mr. Hong expressed his willingness to drop the appeal today, the court proceeded immediately.

Prosecutors detained five years in prison without distinguishing between short and long term, considering that Hong became an adult.

The court decided to hold Hong's sentence on the 26th of this month.
