Sega to market a GameGear Micro - Geeko

The Japanese manufacturer has indeed unveiled a new version of its famous GameGear portable console in a new format. After replicas of the consoles of yesteryear in mini format, in particular the Mega Drive Mini, place in micro format.

With its 8 centimeters wide, 4.3 high and 2 wide, the new GameGear Micro indeed departs from the dimensions of the original from 1990, twice as large. An amazing format that raises questions in terms of ergonomics. Playing on such a small console will not be very easy, especially since its screen is microscopic (1.15 inch).

Even so, the GameGear Micro is available in four colors (black, yellow, red and blue), each corresponding to a selection of 4 video games preinstalled on the consoles. A constraint which should certainly push fans of Sega to buy all versions.

The Japanese firm will also offer a pack including the four consoles including an accessory acting as a magnifying glass for the screen. Given the size of the screen, the magnifying glass will not be luxury.

Note also that the console can be recharged via a USB cable or powered by a pair of AAA batteries.

Here is the list of games available on the 4 consoles:

Black

  • "Sonic the Hedgehog"
  • "Puyo Puyo 2"
  • "OutRun"
  • "Royal Stone"

Blue

  • "Sonic & Tails"
  • "Gunstar Heroes"
  • "Sylvan Tale"
  • "Baku Baku Animal"

Yellow

  • "Shining Force"
  • "Shining Force 2"
  • "Shining Force: Final Conflict"
  • "Nazo Puyo: Arle no Roux"

Red

  • "Megami Tensei Gaiden: Last Bible"
  • "Megami Tensei Gaiden: Last Bible Special"
  • "The GG Shinobi"
  • "Columns"

The GameGear Micro will be launched on October 6 in Japan, at a price of 4,980 yen, or about 40 euros. As for the pack of 4 GameGear Micro, it will cost 29,980 yen, or 245 euros. Unfortunately, it is not yet a question of going outside the Japanese borders.
