Samsung imagines an app dedicated to hand washing - Geeko

To fight against the coronavirus, hygiene practices have never been more important. We are reminded everywhere to wash our hands, cough in the crook of our elbow and throw our handkerchiefs in a closed trash can. Reflexes that are not always easy to have or to adopt, this is why Samsung has created a dedicated application to help adopt the right mechanisms…

The Hand Wash application - literally hand washing - is available on the Korean manufacturer's connected watches from the Galaxy Store. Its interest lies in the fact of programming reminders and alarms so that the user wash their hands at regular intervals.

A timed operation

To fight against the coronavirus, it is recommended to wash your hands for at least 20 seconds, according to the WHO. This is why the Samsung application, developed on the basis of several university studies, will launch a countdown of 25 seconds on each reminder, 5 seconds to take the show and open the water and 20 seconds of friction. Haptic feedback will also be felt to supervise the cleaning phase.

Hand Wash will also keep the accounts and thus tell its users how much time has passed since their last hand wash. They can also indicate their unplanned passages to the sink, which preceded a meal for example. In this way, they will be able to follow their habits in terms of daily hand hygiene and see their development on a weekly basis.

The application is available for free download from the Galaxy Store for users of Gear S3, Gear Sports, Galaxy Watch, Galaxy Watch Active and Galaxy Watch Active 2. And since these watches are waterproof, no need to remove them to clean your hands .
