The Huawei subsidiary recently presented a new batch of smartphones. Among the four models, the Honor Play 4 Pro stands out from the crowd thanks to an argument of size in these times of pandemic. It is indeed equipped with a temperature sensor.
A feature that would probably not have caused much noise in normal times. However, with the coronavirus crisis, it could well appeal to consumers. Since the beginning of the pandemic, a high temperature in individuals can indeed reveal contamination. This is also measured at numerous checkpoints in China.
A video shows how the temperature sensor of the Honor Play 4 Pro works. This can be placed on a person's forehead or on their wrist, in order to capture their temperature by infrared. According to Honor, its sensor is capable of measuring temperatures between -20 ° and 100 ° C with an accuracy of one tenth of a degree. The process is very fast, as this video shows:
Not a revolution
If the integration of such a sensor in pandemic times is undoubtedly a real plus for the phone, the Honor model is not the first to offer such functionality. Indeed, in 2016 already, the Cat's S60 already integrated a thermal camera. There are also accessories for smartphones that allow you to obtain thermal images.
Beyond its temperature sensor, the Honor Play 4 Pro has a Kirin 990 processor, 8 GB of RAM, displays on a Full HD + screen of 6.57 inches and has only two cameras on the back where is also located the temperature sensor. The smartphone is compatible with 5G and fast charging. For now, it is only available in China, at a price of 2,999 Yuan (around 375 euros). It is difficult to know at the moment whether it will be exported to other regions of the world.
